Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec
2040 is lush and elegant consisting of high-elevation, mountain fruit with aromas of violet, blueberry and black cherry. The palate is rich with sweet oak and a hint of spice with a velvety smooth, lingering finish and well-integrated tannins. Pairs with a grilled filet mignon, braised beef short ribs and sharp cheeses.
Sky High Vineyard
2040 is inspired by our winemakers passion to create wines from high-elevation vineyards, wines that are reflective of the apex of the land with our sites set on the highest peaks of the Cooley Ranch vineyards. Only one exceptional block of Sky High vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon grapes was harvested for our 2014 vintage. Our winemakers promise that each and every vintage is the best lot barrel by barrel, of truly exceptional high-elevation fruit.
An Amazing Vintage
Truly exceptional fruit
The season began with a mild, dry winter that encouraged early bud break in Sonoma County in 2014. The growing season was very warm overall, but tempered by overcast days in late July and late August plus a heavy drizzle in early September, which slowed ripening through extended hang time on the vines. We harvested the grapes at peak ripeness starting on October 3, 2014.
